Our Blog - Little agility event

I've done lots of blogs and Facebook posts with videos from Lucy's agility classes and friendly competitions. We don't really put her into any "real" competitions as we just really want her to have fun and get great exercise. We do all of our agility classes at the same dog school, but there are actually at least 5 dog schools that have agility classes around town. One of Lucy's buddies, a sheltie named Redson, does his agility sometimes at the same one we go to, but also another one that has more weekend classes (which are easier with his "mom's" work schedule).

The other one was holding a competition the other weekend for the dogs that train there, but also had a little open house (I guess I would call it that) for anyone that wanted to come. They did 2 different courses: the first was pretty easy and the 2nd was a bit harder but still not deadly. The location seemed to have a bit more space, so the agility obstacles could be spread-out a bit more, which caused everyone to run more. Tom did both of the runs this weekend.

This is the "easy" run, which she did almost perfectly! She had no faults, but there were 2 little places that she could have done better making a quicker turn (she may have lost .0001 seconds each time!).

And now her 2nd run ... you can see she was overly excited as she wanted to start too soon ... and while not technically a fault, getting near the end she doesn't jump over one of the bars but goes back and does it before getting to the next obstacle. Mind you, she was not the only dog that had the same problem with the same jump!

All in all, a very successful day for Lucy! Since these were meant to be a fairly easy courses, there was no A-Frame, no dog walk, no weave poles, and no teeter totter.
