Our Blog - Lac de Bourget, France

A friend of ours recommended this lake to us, so we stopped by on our way between Grenoble and Annecy. It is also known as the Lac Gris (Grey Lake) although not sure why. A little trivia: it is the deepest lake located entirely within France, and either the largest or second largest after Lac de Grand-Lieu depending on season. The lake is bordered by the steep summits of the Mont du Chat and the Chaîne de l'Épine on the west, and Bauges Mountains on the east, which form its shores. On the Southern end, where we were, there were quite a few reed marshes that had signs indicating that they were wildlife natural areas. We had a nice walk with Lucy and then grabbed lunch before heading on to Annecy.
